    Flickring

    Hoodwink

So, I’m finally getting around to blogging about my epic bamboozle weekend. Instead of blogging about all 3 days in one post, I’m breaking it up into 3 separate posts for each day to make it convenient for you, the reader. I know, I’m so considerate. Anywho, here we go with day one.

So, Derek and Katy arrived at my dorm around 2:30 AM. We left, they drove, I slept (or attempted to) then at some point we stopped in the middle of no where Pennsylvania and slept for a few hours. We woke up at like 9:30 (I think) and drove the rest of the way. (Sidenote: Pennsylvania has so many fucking trees. Like, holy shit, I swear that’s all I saw.)

So, we got to where bamboozle was, drove around for like 2 hours trying to find someplace free to park, failed at that, and then just paid $20 to park by the stadium.

We stood in the rain till doors opened, and then went and watched a bunch of bands. It was Hoodwink, and the deal was that all the bands played entire cover sets of other bands. We also got lots of free candy and mustaches.

    Anywho, onto the bands:

Cartel covered New Found Glory. It was pretty awesome when Jordan Pundik came out and sang with them on “My Friends Over You.” It was pretty not awesome when some dude ended up pushed out of the mosh pit and punched me in the shoulder.

Mercy Mercedes was awesome, they covered Midtown, who I absolutely adore. I was impressed with how well they did. They might be one of my favorite new bands. See the video below for awesomeness.

NeverShoutNever! covered The Beatles. It was shitty. I kind of wanted to punch that Christofer Drew kid in the face. It’s nothing personal, I just think I could take him, though his fans would probably kill me.

The Cab covered Queen. It wasn’t entirely awful, but I mean, really, what were they thinking? It’s Queen, it’s like impossible to cover without failing. They also left out the entire “I see a little silhouetto of a man, Scaramouche, scaramouche will you do the fandango-Thunderbolt and lightning-very very frightening me-” part of Bohemian Rhapsody. Like wtf. Why would you even cover “Bohemian Rhapsody” if you’re going to leave that part out. Not cool.

Forever The Sickest Kids covered Avril Lavigne. It was amusing. I was also amused by how many Avril Lavigne songs I still remembered.

Danger Radio covered Britney Spears. It was pretty amusing. I was like blind for half the set though because it started like pouring and my glasses kept fogging up.

New Found Glory covered Green Day and it was awesome. “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” was the last song they played, and it was the most epic crowd singalong. It was just so cool.

And then Friday night we slept in the car. It was kind of gross, but was didn’t have to pay to park the next day, which was nifty. And that concludes day 1.
